Oyetunde Israel Ayokunmi

My name is Oyetunde Israel Ayokunmi. I hold a BSc in Water Resources Management (Hydrology) from Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta; FUNAAB and an MSc in Hydrology from University of Lagos; UNILAG

I’m the Founder of @icreatedesigns born out of a passion which is traceable to my great love for Arts since 1999 during my primary school days. Mine is a long story of peculiar inspiration and motivation. I draw and/or print on cloths, banners, etc. Way back, I usually use stencils to print names on fabric. I remember I was in Primary four when I was exposed to the Basic Techniques of “adire”. It was during tie and dye classes, I knew something was ignited in me. However, for so many reasons (sprouting from excuses of my tender age and need for academic pursuits), I held unto these passion of mine until my 4th Year in University when I started expressing my art through making of Greeting cards and wall art for sale.

I later got my second Adire training in my final year and then on YouTube and finally (in 2017) at Itoku, Abeokuta Ogun state- the historical home of Adire business. After these, the journey of I Creative Designs began.

I’ve also sharpened my skills in painting, card making. Wall arts (Paper Work)

Elizabeth Oluwatayomi Taiwo

I’m Elizabeth Oluwatayomi Taiwo. I studied Economics in Covenant University.
I am the creative director of Lisa Bunta; a jewelry store where we make various artistic accessories.

I started bead making and design in Junior Secondary School 2 (JSS 2). A Corps Member serving in my school at the time had a class where she taught some students who were interested how to make beadedjewelry. Initially, I wasn’t interested and I felt it was a waste of time. However, when I saw my mates working on their projects in the hostel, I gradually developed interest and decided to join the class. But guess what! I was late because the classes were ended. She however advised me to buy the required materials and learn from my mates and I did just that. I learned the basics from them and started making various beaded jewelries. And then I began to yearn to know more, try more techniques – I surfed the web and up came YouTube to the rescue. That’s where I learned most of what I know today, the rest, are based on my own creativity.

I eagerly look forward to training others too, this is scheduled for later in the year.

I also do a little of cord knotting especially when it’s required to make jewelry. Then I crochet and knit sometimes, but not professionally, yet.

Start Small as a start-up…

Imagined demand for ones’ products can sometimes work. It is however usually better to start small and make haste slowly.

The prospect of gain can be so appealing but can be costly. Learning the peculiarities of the market and adjusting to it means a reduced risk of overstocking which significantly affects liquidity. Not having cash to stock up with would hamper the business

Starting my craft about two years ago had been awesome experiences of expressions. For me my art has been my safe place because it’s where I can express myself without the fear or being judged or criticised. I’m better at my craft than I was when I started but there’s still so much to achieve with it. I hope I get better opportunities and more people get to know about what I do.

I have always loved to be creative with everything I do, combined with my natural love for kids, I find rich motivation and fulfillment for making decor and props for children’s party.
