Paper Craft Explained.

Welcome Readers!

Today on the blog, I will be writing about paper craft.

Paper Craft is the most common type of craft but this does not mean that it requires any less artistic skill. Paper craft is the most loved and ventured into because paper is a relatively inexpensive medium, readily available, and easier to work with than the more complicated media typically used in the creation of three-dimensional artwork, such as ceramics, wood, and metals. Also, it is neater to work with than paints, dyes, and other coloring materials.
Let’s take a look at the definition of Paper craft.

According to Wikipedia, Paper craft is a collection of crafts using paper or card as the primary artistic medium for the creation of one, two or three-dimensional objects. Paper and card stock lend themselves to a wide range of techniques and can be folded, curved, bent, cut, glued, molded, stitched, or layered.

Paper craft is the collection of art forms employing paper or card as the primary artistic medium. We have different types of papercraft, but today I will be writing on three areas: Origami, Bookbinding, Box, and Paper Mache

Origami: Origami is an ancient technique developed in Japan where squares of paper are intricately folded and formed into various objects such as flowers, animals, and boxes. One of the requirements of traditional origami is that no glue, pencil marks or cuts are used to make the finished product. To be considered authentic origami, the final project must be produced solely from folds.

Bookbinding: Unlike majority believe, Bookbinding is also a form of the papercraft. Bookmaking is the making of a book from paper pages bound together under a hardcover. Crafters often will create their books in conjunction with scrapbooking or journaling.

Box Making: Box making is a form of papercraft. Boxes are commonly used across many industries including the jewellery, cosmetics, perfume and fashion sectors.

Papier Mache: The first experience people often have with papier mache is as an art project in elementary school, but don’t let that fool you. Surprisingly sophisticated sculpture and art can be produced with papier mache. The art of papier mache consists of strips of paper dipped in glue or a compound of paper mash applied to an armature. After the mache dries, the object is painted to add color and pattern.
